About the Business:

A company specializing in Electrical, Fire, and Hazardous Area Services used to rely on Windows tablets and a custom MS Access database for data collection during site visits. However, the manual merging of data from different sites at the end of the day was time-consuming and prone to data loss.

Challenges:

The manual process of data collection and aggregation was inefficient and often resulted in the loss of important testing data and reports. This inefficiency led to delays in processing and analyzing data, affecting the company’s ability to quickly provide customer insights and reports.

Solution:

We have built a cross-platform mobile app for engineers with a cloud database.

Offline Support: Engineers can collect and store data offline when they are at customer sites without reliable internet access. The application automatically syncs the data with the cloud database once an internet connection is available.
Centralized Cloud Database: Data from various sites is automatically uploaded to a Supabase database, eliminating the need for manual merging. This ensures that data is centrally stored and easily accessible for analysis and reporting.
Real-time Data Availability: With data being synced to the cloud in real-time (or as soon as internet access is restored), the company can process and analyze data more quickly, improving the turnaround time for delivering reports to customers.
Enhanced Data Integrity: The risk of data loss is significantly reduced as data is securely stored in the cloud. The application’s built-in data validation and error-checking mechanisms further ensure the accuracy of the data collected.

Outcomes:

Adopting the Flutter application with Supabase has transformed the company’s field operations. Engineers can now collect and sync data more efficiently, without the fear of losing critical information.
